3 Bucket-List-Worthy Horsey Vacations
Still searching for the perfect summer vacation? Check out three from our bucket list.
1. Horseback Falconry
For something different how about a chance to combine two ancient arts, riding and falconry. For $423, you and one other person can experience something straight out of Arthurian legend. The package, from Dartmoor Hawking, would start with an introduction to birds of prey, followed by handling lessons to make sure you can carry a hawk correctly. Then you’ll have lunch at a genuine castle, before riding horses with your assigned hawk all afternoon.

2. Polo for Life
Beginner polo programs can be found worldwide. Everything from 2-hour mini lessons to intensive polo schools to week-long destination clinics are all available in places like Argentina, Wyoming and Texas … just to name a few. I’ll be headed to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in just a few weeks for a clinic that includes hours of polo, white water rafting and a river float. This suggestion comes with an advisory warning, though, polo is an addictive sport.
3. Cross Country in Ireland
This vacation, provided by Equitours, allows you to ride cross-country from one farm to another with opportunities to jump a variety of natural and man made obstacles. During hunting season you can hunt up to three times during the week. Tally ho!
