6 Horses in Need of Forever Homes
All around the nation horses are in search of safe, loving homes. Here are six available today.
This is your friendly Horse Nation reminder that our website only relists horses offered for free. Each seller/buyer should do their own research and remember horses are a huge responsibility.
Sky — Texas
“Sky update: Sky came from our last auction rescue and has since gained quite a bit of weight woohoo! Sky through no fault of her own is looking for a new home. Sky has been diagnosed with (summer) COPD and it is recommended that she live in a cooler less humid climate (North Texas or higher). Much to all our dismay she is NOT prego either she has a grass belly only. She has been fully vetted, is incredibly sweet and is good to handle. Right now she is getting shots of deximethazone to help open her airways when the temp gets in the 90’s. Because Sky needs a new home asap for her health there is no fee to adopt her. Please contact if you can provide a home for the beautiful Sky.
We would also be willing to transfer her to any verified rescue in the northern USA. If you are one, follow one or can share this sweet girl with a rescue outside of Texas or can help in anyway we, as well as Sky, certainly do appreciate it.”
Handsome — Texas
“Sweetest gelding you have ever met! Could be used as a therapy horse. He is giant at 17.3 Holsteiner, but very laid back personality. This is a very special horse. Was used as a jumper and dressage horse now looking to slow down due to the onset of ringbone. Perfect companion horse I turn him out with my yearling and they get along great. Please email for pics. I will require references to make sure he goes to a good home!”
Twilight — California
“Twilight is beautiful sweet mare. Ponies, ties, long-lines, saddles, bridals. She has not been ridden and is not broke. Owner doesnt havd the time so finish her training. Big stocky build. Would make a great brood mare as well. Will make a great project horse for someone. Good home is a must. Call 951-265-2111”
Thunder — New York
“Thunder is a 12yo Dapple Grey Standardbred who had a long career of racing and is ready to retire. He came to LLER as an owner surrender. He was very thin and we are gradually getting weight on him. He is 16 hands and has shifting lameness in his rear stifles and arthritic bones, which prevent him from being anything other then a companion horse. His previous owner stated he may go sound after being consistently worked, but we do not feel the need to put him through that and are looking for a soft place for him to retire! He would be a great companion horse. He will go with a no slaughter/no auction/no racing contract as well as first right of refusal. He is UTD on everything.”
Big and Gigi — Minnesota
“Big aka Classic Brat is the grandson of Secretariat. He sustained an injury in his front legs from racing. The arthritis has caused some deformation but he does not seem to be in any pain. Obviously he cannot be ridden. Big is 18 years old and 17 hands high. He has a beautiful red coat just like his granddad. He made an instant friend with Gigi, a 21-year-old bay thoroughbred that is retired from jumping. She is the granddaughter of Seattle Slew. It would be wonderful if they could stay together.”
