Movie Trailer: ‘Of Girls & Horses’

Preview this German coming-of-age drama, available digitally and on DVD June 30.

Untitled

Synopsis

Gorgeous wide shots of rolling farmlands in northern Germany frame this bucolic story of teenage self-discovery, as struggling sixteen-year-old Alex is sent to a remote horse ranch in an attempt to keep her out of trouble for the summer. Even under the mentorship of Nina, an older and experienced stablehand, Alex steals pills and continues her trajectory of self-destruction— and simultaneously surprises herself in discovering she has quite an aptitude as an equestrian. When Kathy, a privileged teenage rider, comes to stay at the farm to improve her riding skills, the two girls find unexpected rapport. A playful summer friendship turns into romance in this endearing tale by German filmmaker Monika Treut (Seduction: The Cruel Woman and Annie, a short film about Annie Sprinkle).
