SpectraVET Performance of the Week: Elisa Wallace in ‘Strip Puissance’
Because there’s nothing so thrilling as the ancient contest of the bareback “strip puissance” on a pony.
Elisa Wallace: if she’s not turning heads by winning Mustang Makeovers or going clear on her first-ever Rolex appearance, she’s taking a 14.1-hand paint pony in a strip puissance competition at Chattahoochee Hills. Say what?
The Chattahoochee Hills International Horse Trials included among its prestigious eventing competition another slightly-less-prestigious contest. The rules were simple: clear the jump, or remove an article of clothing. Elisa’s mount of choice was As You Wish “Westley,” a 14.1-hand paint pony owned by Katie Bartz. See for yourself how well this went:
It’s unclear to us if riding a pony or riding bareback were conditions of the event, or these were personal choices by Ms. Wallace. Regardless, she successfully cleared 4’9″ (after removing her belt and her right boot and sock.) Since I personally could not clear 4’9″ with tack, let alone bareback and without critical pieces of clothing, hats off to you, Elisa. Shine on.
Go riding!
