‘Oh Crap’ Monday

You’re going to want to grab mane for this week’s selection of reader submitted “Oh Crap” moments!

Let’s kick things off with this amazing save sequence from reader Nita Sanfilippo (photos by Xpress Foto), captured at the Kentucky Horse Park’s Kentucky Classique Horse Trials. She explains, “It may be better as a ‘close call’ but I was certainly thinking OH CRAP! My wonderful OTTB launched up before dropping down into the water and jumped me loose, then did the best job helping me to stay on! We finished the event on our dressage score!”

On a related note, from Penny: “My husband has a series of us coming up to, during, and after the fence. His happy, relaxed face never changed.”

From Brianna Kenney: “I’ve included a picture of my friend, Emma jumping (eh…) my mare Honey at her first Horse Trials (horse, not the human). The horse change was a last minute switch, and Emma had only been riding Hon for about a week before they went. In hindsight they probably should’ve left a day early and schooled cross country. Both were OK! Honey just doesn’t trust half-answers to questions with Emma like she does with me.”

From Laura Ann Kosiorek‎: “In honor of ‘Oh Crap’ Monday, this is a photo I took years ago at the Chagrin Grand Prix. Both horse and rider were absolutely fine — just goes to show you weather you are a professional, beginner, aspiring young athlete or recreational rider, it happens to the best of us!”
