SpectraVET Performance of the Week: That Time George Morris Told a Rider He Was ‘Perfect’

Wilton Porter, age 20, got the compliment of a lifetime during last week’s George Morris Horsemastership Training Sessions.

As quick as George Morris is to dole out a criticism, he was generous with praise on the dreaded No Stirrups Day of the Sessions — particularly during a moment of flawless riding on the part of Wilton Porter, a Dallas, Texas, native whose 2014 resume includes a NAJYRC Gold Medal, top three finishes in two WEF World Cup Qualifiers and numerous European wins.

“You’re perfect, Wilton!,” George exclaimed. “I can’t tell if it’s Wilton or Edward Gal or Steffen Peters — you sort of remind me of Steffen Peters in that flying change.”

Wilton couldn’t stifle a well-deserved grin. Here’s the clip:
