Best of Craigslist: ‘Appaloosa – $650’
What, you’ve never seen a horse in a living room before? PLUS! Another “philly,” a “throttle bred” and much, much more.
But first, allow us to introduce the star of our lead photo. Many thanks to Ashley for sending this one our way:
8 year old Appaloosa horse. Great trail horse, works well in parades, gets along with other horses. He is very gentle, we usedhim to ride small kids around the yard. We have had him for about 5 years and all of our kids now have their own horse.

This actually seems like a really neat young horse but… come on, people. From Emily O.
Stunning black philly – $8000 (Scottsville, NY)
Harlequin aka Lola is registered KWPN philly coming on 2 years old. All black with a tiny white star. She is a Cornell University bred foal Out of Konstance by LAndiamo. Both of her parents are very flashy lookers and movers, as she has already proven to be. At just 3 months she had a floaty suspended trot and would do tempies across the field. She has the natural talent to be a Grand Prix dressage horse. Very sturdy and correct build with a gorgeous neck coming in. Hasnt been spooky at all and is very smart. She crossties, lunges, and has been awesome for both the vet and farrier.
Im only selling because I unfortunately need the money over the horse although I am in no rush to sell. I would prefer she goes to a home who plans on showing as I dont want to see her natural talent wasted.

Here’s one for a “throttle bred.” From Nora B.:
free mare to good home (sultan)

Hilary sent this one our way, noting the use of generic words like “male” and “female” that are always a dead giveaway that the seller has no clue about horses:
The gray is a mustang and for the brown one she’s a core de hoir . Asking 400 for both of them. The dark brown horse has her papers. The gray one is a male and the brown one is a female. My phone number is 919 975 9234. We are asking 400 for both of them. We will accept a trade for them. I would trade for a closed trailer or something else.

And Sherrie E. forwarded us this one with the note, “This was a pretty standard ad for my area until I saw that both horses have lapels!!??” Editor’s note: Since we originally looked at this ad, the poster appeared to have gone in and corrected “lapels” to “papels.” DOUBLE FAIL.
2 horses 4 trade or sale
Trade 4lambs or goats 5 years old horses have lapels on them
Wow. Readers, if you run across an “interesting” Craigslist ad in your Internet wanderings, send it our way! Email the link to [email protected]. Who knows–maybe you’ll help connect an unwanted horse with a safe, loving home. Go Riding.
