NickerDoodles: Winter Olympic Sports — Equestrian Style

Listen, up IOC: Melanie Eberhardt has some horse-themed suggestions for improving the Winter Games.

“WHAT? No winter equine sports!?! NickerDoodles is going to petition the Olympic committee with suggestions on how to involved our beloved horses in the next winter Olympics.”

“Hey Olympic Committee — we have another suggestion for adding equine events to the next winter Olympics. What sport requires a team working in unison in the precise execution of prescribed movements with balance and impulsion? Team figure skating IS DRESSAGE! Thank you, Suellen Slockbower, for this great suggestion.”

“Dear Olympic Committee, we have another suggestion for including our beloved equines in the next winter olympics. Speed Skating — horses would totally dominate this sport, going fast, counter clock-wise in a circle — this is no different from any racing Thoroughbred’s world! And while those amazing human athletes have some pretty incredible thighs, they don’t compare to a horse!

About Melanie: I am an artist in Atlanta. When I’m not painting, I’m riding horses. I have 3 retired Arabians and a snotty pony at home. They keep me on my toes. Three years ago I bought a young OTTB straight off the track. My new fella, Bubba, and I are learning dressage.
