Ho-ho-WHOA! Inebriated Santa in Poland crashes sleigh, may face DUI charges

Santa and his helper were way into the holiday spirit. The horse pulling their sleigh? Not so much.

A Blitzen-ed Santa may face drunk driving charges after crashing his horse drawn sleigh this week in a Polish town.

The 51-year-old Santa and his 31-year-old female helper were extremely jolly when they arrived to entertain the crowds and meet children at a local market in Ustrzykach Dolynch, Poland. They slurred their way through a few carols, then trotted off down Main Street.

A beeping car caused their horse to rear and bolt, catapulting the couple onto the street, reports the Mirror. 

Perhaps reindeer are less spooky?

“It was a mixture of ‘Ho, ho ho’ and ‘No no no!'” passerby Zdzislaw Molodynski told the paper.

Paramedics hauled them off, treating them for concussion.

“It was quite extraordinary,” said Molodynski.

Hundreds of kids hoping to meet St. Nick witnessed a spectacle of a different sort.

“Instead they saw these two, who were clearly under the influence, behaving like they had just come out of a nightclub or something,” said Molodynski, who snapped photos of the incident.

Magda Dudzinska who had taken her seven-year-old son to meet the Santa said: “I’m not happy they had a crash or are in hospital, but I’m delighted we didn’t get to meet them. Who knows what they would have done in that state? They were clearly in no state to deal with children.”

Or horses, apparently.

Police may press drunk driving charges.
