'Oh Crap' Moment of the Day: Del Mar gate fiasco

A scary start-gate mishap foiled a race at Southern California track Del Mar on Saturday night.

The incident began when Indian Spirit reared up in Post 6, hit the top of the gate, and triggered it to open. He bolted, dumping his rider and prompting other horses to break through their gates as well. Thanks to the quick thinking of the starters and jockeys, no one was injured.
