Not everyone can afford fancy filler and standards that look straight out of Downton Abbey — but it doesn't cost much to spruce up jumps with an awesome paint job.

Looking to jazz up your jumps at home? Here are a few creative painting ideas that won't break the bank.
First, gather up a bunch of unpaid help–er, friends–and outdoor paint. Start off by painting your poles and standards in solid colors.
If you're artistically challenged, but still want to make some cool-looking jumps, you can twirl some fancy-patterned duct tape around the pole (after waiting for the paint to dry!).
But if you're feeling crafty, these designs will make your arena look sharp! Try using a small roller or a flat brush for crisp edges.
Gucci-style poles are easy, and classy!
Painting several poles in the same pattern creates an impressive effect.
Especially when you're jumping over five foot.
Thin stripes can create that uniform effect or you can offset them for some asymmetrical action.
Try painting the standards two different colors for a contrast look.
Making even circles is a bit more challenging…just like it is while riding. A round brush–or even better, a stencil–will make circles and dots easier.
Perhaps the most difficult to freehand is a birch-style jump. But it looks oh so snazzy.
